What is Tennis elbow?
Tennis elbow isn’t just limited to tennis players! Certain repetitive movements of the wrist can cause this condition through inflammation of the tendons on the outside (lateral side) of the elbow at a bony prominence (lateral epicondyle) of the upper arm.
What causes tennis elbow?
Any repetitive motion of the wrist, including tennis, hedge clipping, excessive use of a hammer or screwdriver, painting, or any activity that requires excessive constant gripping or squeezing can cause the condition known as tennis elbow.
You may notice pain:
- on the outside of your upper forearm, just below the bend of your elbow.
- when lifting or bending your arm.
- when gripping small objects, such as a pen.
- when twisting your forearm, such as turning a door handle or opening a jar.
- fully extend your forearm.
