What is Kinesiology Taping?
Kinesiology Tape or Therapeutic Taple is also known as Kinesio tape is actually a Tex based non-latex tape with adhesive on a single side used in physiotherapy to treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions affecting the body’s muscles and joints. The tape is cut in a variety of styles specially designed for the structural need of multiple muscle groups, ranging from thick strips to thinner bands strategically applied to provide support and stability to the affected areas.
How does it work?
Kinesiology taping relieves pain and encourages lymphatic drainage , thereby promoting a decrease in inflammation. The material mimics the natural elasticity of the skin, providing both support and comfort with a natural feel. The shape, direction, and tension of the tape application is highly variable depending on your needs. Through therapeutic taping, your physiotherapist can help you retrain your muscles, minimize pain and swelling, increase circulation, prevent further injury, and above all, promote healing. This therapeutic measure has proven greatly beneficial for fascia, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints.
